So I headed out 880 to 101 to Cloverdale, and off on to 128, trying to get off super slab.. Nice road, a bit twisty at the beginning but smoothed out nice for a mellow roll thru the valley... I stopped at this place for lunch .... where was that...?????? ...age related.....sigh

This was the road back out to 101, real nice... interesting, back the road a waze, 2 zippy little European sports cars were crowding this slow ol' fart, I pulled over to let them by, they waved and 1/2 mile later, I saw number 2 wrapped around one of them "big trees"! He was fine, but his little zippy was smacked, hit a sharp turn too hot....
This is my view out the window at Sherwood Forrest in Garberville! The room was down to my level, only 66 bucks, but would not recommend it to friends..

Think this is the Eel River, could you imaging it at this road level? My brother was up camping here during the "great flood" when all the bridges and logging places got wiped out. He made it out over the last bridge before the logs took out the last bridge..
A big redwood tree at any speed is a huge force, and it just wiped this area out...

This is my buddy Dave and Dianne, the trophy on the right is for best of show at a Corvette show.... He took a 66 Thunderbird and won!!! GBG It's a damn nice one too! Took me out for a beer in it and it will move! That is where I went on Sat PM after SCP's place.... Had to say HI!!!! ...and get a free beer!!! GBG We used to work, er were employed at IBM in San Jose before retirement...

Next day, it was time to take off.... The bike needed a jump to start Friday, it got pretty wet over the PM hours and I thought maybe I had bad wires...
Well, Sunday, no go again and I had parked it under the awning so moisture was not the bug.. battery was not either, as with all the cranking.... AFTER DaFrog came over and asked "would you like me to fix it"? I was pretty much speechless, that's unusual for me, but what could I possibly say other than PLEASE!!!???
He pulled out all 4 plugs and they were real black, apparently I'm running way rich, he cleaned 'um up and put 'um back in and she fired first click! Thanks Dave!!!!!!!! I owe you! I offered to buy him breakfast, but he politely refused. How can you thank someone that saves your butt!!!????
So after DaFrog got Goldie running off I went! I wanted to ride up 1 to 18 by Lincoln City and then over to Portland / 5, actually to Gladstone and visit my buddy Ken, we used to wrench together at IBM. Many wardrobe changes along 18, by time I got to the top of the summit, Off with the sweater, heavy gloves, liner, winter to summer shift!
I gotta say, that coast was damn cold from Thursday to Sunday when I got away from it! I'm talking damn cold!!! Friday and Sat day time was nice but in the evening, all coats back on...
So how do you leave a party? NOT!!!!!! ON to Florence!!!!! Stopped at Ol' town and took a few pics...

This is my buddy Ken, known him for 40 years, we were computer service folks in San Francisco back in the 60 and70s....
Headed out 26 to 97 and south to Klamath Falls... and 395 on to Reno.. Th think this was a shot of 3 Sisters mountains...
If you look, that road just keeps going, reminded me of Tom's shot of 50 and his speedo at 120...
So I get to Reno and visit with my boy and Friday begins an new adventure... I've been over all the passes but Ebbetts..... enough of that!!!!!!! I'm talking about -4-
Of all the passes, my favorites are: Carson 88, Tioga 120 , Sonora 108, and forget Ebbetts especially west bound! It seems west bound is the more difficult for all grades....
There are about 4 curves that you will remember, 1 is a very tight right, at 25+% up grade, and in my case had loose gravel in it and it was beveled the wrong way! Nasty, and the entire route of 4 is not nice, from 40 miles east of Stockton to 89, just not a nice road, IMHO.
Don't get me wrong, Sonora 108 has its dogleg rights at 25% also, but the road is beveled right, wide and in good condition. Also, after the pass it opens up for a nice ride, I just have to go a bit further out of my way for 108, I don't see a problem here!!! GBG
Don VSP said I'd see maybe 4 cars.... this was Friday afternoon and I saw 44+, no road hogs, but I was NOT lonely!

I figured that I got almost 42 mpg, and spent about 200 bucks on gas. Not bad!!! For a great vacation..... now what is vacation again? I keep forgetting the concept..... GBSEG
On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again, it's been a long time since I've been there with my friends.......... Sing it Willy!!!!!!!!!!
